You Can’t Blog on an Empty Stomach

Fillet Steak

Launching a new blog is a little like preparing a meal. Traditionally you need to organise your host, come up with a name (Thanks Charl!), choose a theme, setup your stats counter and have a clue about what you’re going to be saying before you implement the grand plan.

That way you can spam your mates and have them feel like they’ve just seen Steve Jobs announce the latest iWhatever in person. Wow!

This way (my way) is slightly different….

My new blog, much like this post (which shows you how I create the ultimate steak), will unfold over time. I plan to be broad with my subject matter and will share the steps I will be taking to build a successful (I hope) blog.

In the mean time, enjoy my steak…

Step 1
Get a sizable piece of fillet (pictured above), at least the width of a 15″ Macbook and the girth of a well hung donkey.

Step 2
Spice it up with either plain salt and pepper or my personal preference: Texan Sizzling Steak spice… and leave to sit at room temperature for 20-30 minutes.

Step 3
Prepare your Weber kettle braai using the indirect method. That means you make two fires for the price of one! You can also use a steel rim from an old car if you’re desperate.

Step 4
When your coals are nice a grey the fire is ready. Spray or paint your resting steak with some olive oil and place it in the centre of the grill.

Close the lid and let cook for 8 – 12 minutes depending on your preference. You may turn the steak once if you desire, but do not peek inside as you will only lose heat and screw it all up.

Quick Tip
If paranoid, stick a sharp knive into the steak for a second then touch it against your tongue. If it’s hot your steak is certainly ready.

Step 5
Remove your steak and allow it to sit for about 5 minutes before you cut it.

And there you have it… the iDale steak!
