I am such a carnivore – I cannot resist a good piece of meat, especially steak. I eat their Lamb Shank in winter. I love Societi Bistro because the food is always good and the restaurant is both intimate but also sociable. I live close by so it’s my usual when I want a good, solid meal. They also have a great selection of wines. I choose Creme Brulee for dessert because I love sweet vanilla stuff late at night, and their Creme Brulee is something special.
Restaurant: Societe Bistro – 50 Orange Street, Gardens, Cape Town, South Africa
Favorite Meal: Fillet Au Poivre for mains, Creme Brulee for dessert

Cynthias is quite an institution in Pretoria and if you are celebrating or need good food, you go there. The service is impeccable, the decor a tiny bit dated but so comforting and the atmosphere is relaxed and inviting but still sophisticated. I’ve had almost the entire menu over the last 10 years and I’ve never come across anything that I wouldn’t order again. OHHH their Biltong and mushroom soup is TO DIE FOR!!
Restaurant: Cynthias Restaurant
Favorite Meal: Fillet Brie steak, Creme Brulee and Carpaccio
3. Charl Norman

Sinns Restaurant has this oriental beef fillet… Small beef fillet cutlets served in chinese spoons – bite size – they melt in your mouth. Great light meal for a quick lunch meeting.
Restaurant: Sinns Restaurant & Bar, Wembley Square, Gardens, Cape Town, South Africa
Favorite Meal: Oriental Beef Fillet

One of my favourite restaurants is 221 – It’s situated at the V&A Waterfront in Cape Town and is the perfect location come rain or shine. The restaurant offers three areas, a main dining area, and outside deck and a lounge. Views of the harbour can be enjoyed whilst enjoying a great meal or having a cocktail in the lounge.
Restaurant: 221 – V&A Waterfront, Cape Town, South Africa
Favorite Meal: Sushi starter, steak main with a bottle of Moët et Chandon

I love the Margherita pizza with salami and mushroom at Bardelli’s Restaurant because their base is thin and has a sweet flavour, the salami they use also tastes like biltong and it literally blows my mind everytime I eat there.
Restaurant: Bardelli’s – Kenilworth Road, Kenilworth, Cape Tow, South Africa

It is probably the best Chinese food that I’ve ever tasted and I’ve been to a lot of Chinese restaurants in Gauteng. Happy Valley is more like a take-away place. We usually place our orders over the phone and pick it up within 10 minutes. The dudes also make next level sushi and their prices are very good. The problem with larney restaurants are that they disappoint most of the time, are overpriced and serve little meals in plates the size of Cadac skottels. Happy Valley’s branches are in Kyalami and Sunninghil. We go to the Sunninghill one because we live around the corner, plus Bobby always gives us free prawn crackers.

Mesopotamia is a dining experience like no other! Also, I have a huge love for spicy food. I love the venue because of the vibe. You can enjoy a selection of meze and dine on dishes specially prepared on a traditional tandoori wood fire. You sit on kilim cushions around antique copper tables in a venue that is richly decorated with genuine hand-made kilims and Kurdish artifacts that create the ambience and conviviality of Mesopotamia. And there are belly dancers to entertain you while you dine. Did I mention the tobacco mixed with molasses or honey and dried fruit pulp, and smoked in a shisha or hookah? I don’t have to elaborate on why I’m in love with this place!

I like the fact that the Hussar Grill Steakhouse has stood the test of time and prides itself on excellence “since 1964″. Good cuts of meat. Good wine. Classic, warm and inviting restaurant decor.

Brewers & Union has a cool vibe, great beer and their prego steak roll is unrivalled. It’s also close to where I live and they never let me down!
Restaurant: Brewers & Union – 110 Bree Street, Stephen’s Church, Cape Town, South Africa
Favorite Meal: Prego steak roll

The guys at Sugo Rosso just get it right, the combination of food and vibe is awesome (and did I mention the dressing, that shit’s like crack?). I love the cafe feel of the Parktown Quarter store, it’s a lunchtime gig for me. Then I dig the “everyone knows your name” vibe at Bryantpark – I have dinner there weekly.
Restaurant: Sugo Rosso – Parktown Quarter & Bryanpark Shopping Centre, Johannesburg, South Africa
Favorite Meal: Burro Pollo with penne (but you gotta ask for a bowl of their salad dressing – seriously, it’s phenominawesome!)

I sneak off to meet my BFF (best fashion friend) Chris Viljoen from Elle Mag at Bird’s Boutique Café for lunch when we can. It’s a chance to get away from the super trendy, achingly hip, superficial of our working lives in the fashion industry and just relax in a very rustic and authentic place. The portions are huge, and the food incredibly fresh – so fresh that bunches of newly cut herbs are generally in pots on the big communal table. We eat well, we laugh heartily, we reconnect with honesty and then return to the whirl of fashion refreshed and with very full bellies.

Borruso’s has a really great rustic feel to it, people are always so friendly and inviting. They truly make the best traditional pizza’s and pasta – food quality is always top notch. My choice of meal is simply because I cannot say no to a great pizza and good company.

The Owners, Brendon and Jean, are just too divine for words and make you feel like you’re walking into a friend’s home when you arrive at Caveau. The steaks melt in your mouth and the courtyard atmosphere is amazing in both summer and winter – with mushroom heaters doing their thing (+ blankets!). Inside secret: apparently the boys are opening up a new place which will blow your mind… near the lighthouse in Mouille Point.

I love Polpetta because it’s a genuine Italian restaurant with a great vibe and incredible flavours! The owners, Roberto & Ivano, pay special attention to every single guest – making everyone feel at home. I look forward to their oven-baked garlic bread sticks before every meal I eat there. And despite being ‘plain’, I really love the bolognese! Their house salad with it’s special dressing is phenomenal and I especially love it when they replace the avocado with ripe mango’s. Being right by my home is also a bonus.
