Sure, it’s not ideal having absolutely nothing in the centre – what’s the point? But the genius of using lighting around the border to indicate the hour and minute hands is splendid.

This bad boy appears to come in two different colour options. The question has to be asked: is a watch really a watch without a face?

A couple of weeks back I put my closet through a little “Spring clean“. In the process I got myself several fine shirts and soon after found myself some fabric cufflinks to compliment the new threads.

BUT, something wasn’t quite right! You see, I obviously have some weird body proportion issue in that my arms are too long or too short – either way my shirts needed an adjustment and there was only one man for the job…

I payed them a visit with four shirts that needed to be brought in a bit. I can honestly say that for the first time in a long time I was shocked at the price! It was ridiculously affordable! R50 per shirt!

Bugs and his team at Rivonia Tailors managed to turn my shirts into perfect bespoke garments in just three days and now I’m looking suaver than a “GQ Best Dressed Man” winner!

Last week I did a little “Out with the old / In with the new“. What started off as an innocent “get rid of a couple-a-things”, quickly turned into the wardrobe apocalypse of the new millennium! The final outcome was good because I ended up with some smart new threads…

Shirts with fine detail need accessories with fine detail

Being the “double cuff” kinda guy I am, it’s been a nightmare trying to find some fabric cuff links. You see, it’s not ideal when you hear the constant clanking sound of metal cuff links in the office. It’s also a complete bugger carving your name into your desk every time you move your mouse! So you need to dress them double cuffs down…

But do you think I could find said fabric cuff links anywhere? Not so fast tiger! Believe it or not, there is only one (yes, ONE) store in the entire self-proclaimed “centre of the fashion world” that is known as Sandton City where these little beauties are available:

People will never ever see your collar stays, but sometimes in life it’s not about showing and rather about knowing.

Lets face it… if you are the man, then the collars of your dress shirt need to be kept straight with carbon fiber.

For those that don’t know what collar stays are, here’s a little background: Most dress shirts collars have little pockets on the underside of the collar, and many times come with crappy plastic collar stays when you buy the shirt. They help keep the collar stiff and crisp for a clean look.

Can you believe that cufflinks go back to the Middle Ages where their precursor, ‘cuff strings’, adorned the wrists of fashionable gentlemen of the day. One of the earliest references to what we now recognize as cufflinks was made in the London Gazette of 1684, which referred to a pair of cuff buttons set with diamonds – styling! But can we say they same for these mini-lighter cufflinks of today??
